While no cases of Zika have been reported in Connecticut, the state prepares response

Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced that Connecticut has begun to coordinate a multi-agency response to the Zika virus. The Department of Public Health will take the lead on the response which will include the use of state-wide mosquito-trapping stations.

While no locally mosquito-transmitted Zika cases have been reported, a species of mosquito, Aedes albopictus, has been found in the state and has been known to transmit the disease in previous outbreaks.

We took a look at data from the CDC that reports states where travel-associated cases have been reported and a map that shows the approximate distribution of the two species of mosquito that are known to transmit the disease.
