Something new for spring at von Schlippe

“Window View” by Lynn Frink (Image submitted)

If the University of Connecticut continues with its plans to close the Alexey von Schlippe Gallery of Art this summer as part of budget cuts, well, you should be particularly motivated to get to the gallery's Spring Exhibition. The gallery, located in the gorgeous Branford House Mansion on UConn's Avery Point campus in Groton, will hold an opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. On view will be the character- and story-infused paintings of Pamela Zagarenski of Stonington; the works focusing on color, shapes, textures and moods of Lynn Frink of Noank; the non-representational paintings by Edeltraud Huller of New London; and the mixed-media creations of Diane Englander of New York City. The Spring Exhibition runs through June 4. Hours are 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Tues.-Thurs., 12:30-4 p.m. Fri.-Sun.; (860) 405-9052.
