Climate change engages survival of the fittest

Americans might be split between those who accept reality and those who want to pretend otherwise, but numbers are indifferent to human denial. NASA documented that July was the Earth’s hottest month in recorded history. July extends the record to 10 consecutive record warm months with 2016 on track to be the hottest year on record, melting 2015’s warmest year record into the cauldron of history.

The Day’s front page “Climate change splits Americans,” (Aug. 15), is quite remarkable since scientists agree on human caused climate change, which apparently is now immensely polarizing in science-challenged households. Climate doesn’t care about your beliefs. The household disharmony might make for interpersonal drama, but innocent plants, animals and the vulnerable are tragically engaged in a survival of the fittest struggle not of their making.
