    H.S. soccer: Stonington boys earn sudden death win over Bacon

    Pawcatuck — Harrison Hoops took a cross from James Costa and scored from point-blank range with 1 minute, 14 seconds left in the first overtime to give unbeaten Stonington a 1-0 sudden death victory over Bacon Academy in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division II boys' soccer match on Saturday night.

    Joe Rosa made nine saves to earn the shutout for the Bears (4-0, 2-0). Both teams had nine shots and Luke Sanford made eight saves for Bacon (2-1-1, 1-1), the reigning ECC tournament champion.

    In other games:

    • Colin Shannon's goal in the 73rd minute lifted Waterford to a 1-0 victory over Montville in an ECC Division II match. Brent Rutchick assisted on the game's only goal for the Lancers (3-1, 1-1), who held an 11-5 edges in shots. Glen Faber made three saves in goal for Waterford while Nik Strickland stopped eight shots for the Indians (1-2, 0-2).

    • Anthony Abramov had two goals and one assist as East Lyme rolled to a 6-0 victory over New London in an ECC Division I game. Zack Vandale also scored twice for the Vikings (1-2, 1-1) while Jacob Walsh and Pat Dowd each scored once. Guieseppe Conte made 11 saves in goal for New London (1-3, 0-2).

    • Freshman goalie Bower Baker made seven saves as Wheeler battled Parish Hill to a scoreless tie in a nonconference game. The Lions (0-2-1) and Pirates each had seven shots on goal.

    • Nick Chirillo, assisted by Callum Tresnan, broke a scoreless tie with 10 minutes remaining to give Williams School a 1-0 victory over Chase Collegiate. The goal came moments after the Blues ended up with a man advantage following a red card to a Chase player.

    Girls' soccer

    • Old Lyme had goals from five different players en route to a 5-0 nonconference win over Fitch in Groton. Jenna Peduzzi, Colleen Walsh, Keelin Hurtt, Sierra Klimazewski and Daisy Colvin found the net for the Wildcats (4-1) while Maddie Ouellette was credited with two assists. Katherine Pettersen made four saves for Old Lyme while Kylah Doehring and Molly Bresnahan combined for 15 saves in goal for Fitch (0-2).

    • Masuk's Kasey Lawrence scored with 12 minutes remaining to force a 3-3 tie with East Lyme in a nonconference game. Stephanie deLaforcade had two goals and an assist and Mackenzie Northcutt a goal and an assist for East Lyme (3-0-1), which led 2-1 at halftime. In a back-and-forth second half, Masuk tied the game in the 34th minute, only to have deLaforcade give the Vikings back the lead with 14 minutes to play. Hanna Belleville added an assist and Hayley Sorrentino made 17 saves for East Lyme, which plays defending ECC tournament champ Ledyard on Monday in an ECC Division I matchup.

    • Kara Bassett scored three goals and had two assists as St. Bernard beat Windham 7-0 in an ECC Division III game. Emily Smith and Lili Smith had a goal and an assist each, Mia Londregan had two assists and Alicia Crespo and Hope D'Amico had goals for the Saints (3-0-1, 2-0). 

    • Camryn Werbinski scored four goals while Audrey Matson added three goals and an assist during Williams' 8-0 win over Rocky Hill (R.I.) on Friday. Mia Taylor added a goal and an assist for the Blues while Grace Powell and Cardidad Muldro also had assists.
