Carrie Underwood brings tour to Mohegan Sun

The biggest female star in country music is out on her latest tour, and she's bringing her big, flashy, in-the-round concert to Mohegan Sun this weekend.

Yes, Carrie Underwood will perform Friday in the Arena, and reviews of the tour so far have been raving about Underwood's voice (naturally) and about the extravagant show. One critic dubbed this her "most spectacular production to date."

Even so, one moment without actual pyrotechnics tends to get the most attention: Underwood singing "I Will Always Love You," which Dolly Parton wrote and Whitney Houston made into a pop-music mega-hit.

Underwood's concert here is the last one before, on Wednesday, she co-hosts the CMA Awards with Brad Paisley. This is the ninth time the duo has done the honors, and their comic chemistry always steals the show.

Carrie Underwood, 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, Mohegan Sun Arena; with Easton Corbin and The Swon Brothers; $51, $81; mohegansun.com.
