Faris among three players signed to training camp contracts by Connecticut Sun

The Connecticut Sun announced Tuesday that they had signed Kelly Faris, Kayla Pedersen and Jennifer Hamson to training camp contracts.

Faris, a 5-foot-11 guard from UConn, has been a reserve in most of her 112 games with the Sun. Connecticut drafted her in the first round (11th overall) in the 2013 draft and has been a high-energy player and defender off the bench.

Pedersen, a 6-4 forward, took last year off after being a reserve for the Sun from 2013-15. She was drafted seventh overall by the Tulsa Shock in the 2011 WNBA Draft and was traded to Connecticut in 2013 for the latter’s 2014 second-round pick.

Hamson, a 6-7 center, was drafted 23rd overall (second round) by the Los Angeles Sparks in 2014. She averaged 6.5 minutes in 25 games in 2015 and didn’t play in the league last season. She attended BYU and finished ninth on the all-time scoring list (1,437), third in rebounds (965) and second in blocks (340).
