    Mitchell baseball batters Coast Guard

    New London — Garet Griffin had three hits, including a three-run home run, with five RBI and three runs as Mitchell routed Coast Guard on Tuesday, 16-2, in a non-league baseball game.

    The Mariners (8-5) scored in every inning.

    Mystic’s Tristan Hurley had three hits, two runs and an RBI for Mitchell and Kyle Hartenstein had two hits, three runs and two RBI. Bryton Ferris (3-0) also allowed just three hits over six innings with one earned run and five strikeouts.

    Jeremy Lhotka had two hits and an RBI for the Bears (6-6) and Kyle Moore singled and scored.

    In other games:

    • Issac Feldstein hit a two out, go-ahead two-run single in the top of the ninth to give UConn a 7-5 win over Central Connecticut. Anthony Prato had two hits, including a two-run double, and two runs for the Huskies (10-8) and Westerly’s Jack Lambrecht singled and scored three times. Ryan Costello tied the game with a two-out, three-run home run in the bottom of the eighth for the Blue Devils.

    Softball

    • Coast Guard swept a doubleheader from Roger Williams, winning the opener 7-4 and Game 2 6-5. Courtney McKenna was 5-for-7 with two doubles and five RBI in the two games for Coast Guard (10-2), including a tie-breaking sacrifice fly in the sixth inning of Game 2. Coast Guard also got four hits from Kayla Sowers and three hits from Sharayah Simco.  

    Men's lacrosse

    • Stockton University scored seven straight goals to rally from a 6-3 deficit for a 10-7 win over Connecticut College in a nonleague game. P.J. Kelleher and Jackson Kleintz had two goals and an assist each for Conn (3-3).
