    H.S. roundup: McCrae pitches no-hitter for Fitch baseball team

    Woodstock — Senior Connor McCrae pitched his first career no-hitter and struck out 10 as Fitch defeated Woodstock Academy 2-0 in an in an Eastern Connecticut Conference interdivisional baseball game on Wednesday.

    Michael Williams had two hits, including a double, and scored for the Falcons (2-1) while Ryan Tuohy had two hits and an RBI and Tyler Nelli added two hits.

    In other games:

    • Griffin Powers and Julian Muller each had a home run to power Old Lyme past Westbrook 4-1 in the Shoreline Conference. Hunter Thornton pitched a complete game, allowing three hits while walking five and striking out 12. Jace Funaro had a single and double for the Wildcats (2-0).

    • Isiah Thompson hit a solo home run for Plainfield in its 5-2 win over Wheeler in an ECC Division III game. Bowen Baker had two hits and scored for Wheeler (1-1) and Aiden Cameron had two hits and two RBI. Also, Chris Munzer singled and scored.

    Softball

    • Norwich Free Academy opened its season with a 6-2 victory at Darien. Shea Gendron went 3-for-4 with two RBI while Brooke Gottshall had two hits and Beth Fleming added two hits and an RBI while also pitching a complete game for the Wildcats, who jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the fourth.

    • Old Lyme scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to defeat Westbrook 7-6 in the Shoreline Conference. Audra Gavin had three hits and an RBI for the Wildcats (1-1) while Liz Richard had three hits and an RBI and Rachel Hayward had three RBI.

    • Waterford build a 10-0 lead after five innings and held on for an 11-7 win over Ledyard. Ashley Goldstein pitched five shutout innings for the Lancers (1-1) while Cassidy Susi had three hits and three RBI, Emily Borysewicz had three hits, Rachel Miller had two hits, three runs and two RBI and Ashlee Hancock and Gina McKittrick each added two hits. Corynne Medina had two hits and two RBI for the Colonels (1-1) and Elsyana Morales drove in three runs.

    • Jovanna Potter went 3-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored in New London's 19-4 loss to Killingly. Jasmine Silva had hit and scored a run for the Whalers (1-1).

    • Plainfield scored the winning run on a passed ball in the bottom of the seventh to defeat Wheeler 4-3 in ECC Division III. Sam Muller struck out 15 for the Lions (0-1, 0-1).

    • Isabel Siciliano had three hits with a double, triple and three RBI as East Lyme defeated Bacon Academy 13-1. Siciliano combined with Olivia Quagan to pitch a three-hitter. Lydia Swan had three hits and Nikki Marsh had a bases-clearing triple for the Vikings (1-0).

    Golf

    Medalist Sam Gaboury shot 41 and Montville defeated East Lyme (5-2) and Griswold (7-0) at Norwich Golf Course. Ben Bohmbach shot 44 for East Lyme, a 6-1 winner over Griswold. It was opening day for all three schools.

    Boys' lacrosse

    • Roland Long had two goals and two assists as St. Bernard/Wheeler defeated Fitch 7-4. Jack Feeley added a pair of goals for the Saints (2-0) and Pat Brady had one goal and one assist, while Bray Wilson had one goal and one assist for the Falcons, who were opening their season.

    Girls' lacrosse

    • Williams School opened the season with a 17-7 win at Westover. Sophie Salger led the Blues with five goals and an assist while Rachel Goldstein had four goals and an assist and Audrey Matson had three goals and an assist.
