    H.S. track roundup: St. Bernard boys, girls take a pair of Division IV titles with sweep of Lyman

    Lebanon — Uliana Pokutnia won the 100- and 200-meter events and Liberty Frechette took the 300 hurdles and high jump as the St. Bernard School girls’ track and field team defeated Lyman Memorial 84-61 Wednesday to capture the Eastern Connecticut Conference Division IV title.

    Morghan Kuhn (800), Ava Kobyluck (100 hurdles), Emmalyn Koning (shot put), Beverly Mayberry (discus), Sienna Sferrazza (long jump) and Vanessa Colla (triple jump) also won individual events for St. Bernard (7-2, 3-0).

    Hazel DeLucia won the 1,600 and 3,200 for Lyman (5-2, 2-1).

    In other meets:

    • Kamryn Plikus won the pole vault (10 feet, 6 inches) and high jump (4-10) and Katherine Myjak took the long jump (14-11) and 100-meter hurdles (16.6 seconds) as Montville defeated Windham 87-63 to remain unbeaten in ECC Division III. Evelyn Granskog (300 hurdles), Ashlynn Audoin (shot put), Kiera Paradis (javelin) and Brenna LaBranche (triple jump) also took individual events for the Wolves (6-1, 3-0). The 4x100 and 4x800 relay teams also finished first for Montville, which will complete divisional competition next week at Killingly.

    • Lily Davis won the 100 (12.6), 200 (26.5), 400 (1:01.3) and contributed a leg on the first-place 4x400 relay as Waterford edged Ledyard 76-74 in a matchup between previously unbeaten teams in ECC Division II. Lucy Walker added wins in the shot put and discus for Waterford (7-0, 3-0), which can clinch the division next week with a victory over New London. Kate Littler took the 800, 1,600 and ran a leg of the winning 4x800 relay for Ledyard (4-1, 3-1), while Keara Opalenik (high jump, 100 hurdles) also won multiple events for the Colonels.

    • Hannah Warner won the 100 (12.8), 200 (26.5), triple jump (31-11.75) and ran a leg on the winning 4x100 relay as Fitch defeated East Lyme 91-58 in ECC Division I. Colbie Synhorst (1,600, 3,200) and Hannah Thomas (100 hurdles, 300 hurdles) picked up two individual wins each for the Falcons (3-2, 1-2). A win by the 4x800 relay team of Kate Bustamante, Allison Caskey, Emily Macklin and Maya D’Aquila was among the highlights for East Lyme (0-4, 0-3).

    • Alec Anderson won the shot put, discus and javelin for Stonington in a 58-37 win over New London in ECC Division II. Peyton Vanderstreet also won a pair of events for the Bears (1-4, 1-2), taking the 1,600 and 3,200. New London’s Darielys Arnold won the 100 (12.8), 200 (28.0), high jump (4-6) and long jump (16-6). The Whalers are 0-4 overall, 0-3 in the division.

    Boys

    • St. Bernard beat Lyman Memorial 80-70 to finish unbeaten in ECC Division IV and capture the regular-season title. Colin Britner won the 800 (2:24.9), 1,600 (5:10.3) and 3,200 (11:56.2) to lead the Saints (8-1, 3-0) and Theodore Burrell (110 hurdles, 300 hurldles) and Zane Baton (shot put, discus) won two events each. Kyle Franchi won the pole vault, long jump and triple jump for Lyman (5-2, 2-1).

    • Myles Streckfuss (shot put, discus) and Christian Wiltshire (high jump, triple jump) won multiple events for Ledyard in a 92-58 victory over Waterford to remain unbeaten in ECC Division II. The Colonels (4-1 overall, 4-0 in the division) can clinch the division with a victory over Bacon Academy. Gabe Lombardi (100, 200) and Elliot Childs (100 hurdles, 300 hurdles) won two events each for Waterford (6-1, 2-1).

    • Max DeLaRosa (100, 200) and Dylan Bowes (long jump, triple jump) won two individual events each for Stonington in a 69-65 victory over New London in ECC Division II. Hagen Drake (400), Brady deCastro (800), Graham Pelletier (3,200), Ashton Rose (discus) and Jonah Korinek (pole vault) also earned wins for the Bears (2-3, 1-2). Kyntrel Witherspoon-Dessources (110) and Shea Quashie (300) earned a hurdles sweep for New London (0-4, 0-3).

    • Enzo Valenti won the shot put (43-8) and discus (138-3) in Montville’s 75-74 loss to Windham in ECC Division III. Heyward Williams III (200), Noah Keenan (400) and Jack Brehler (3,200) also won individual events for the Wolves (2-5, 1-2), who added victories in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays.
