    Coast Guard Academy wins spot in top college ranking lists

    New London — The Coast Guard Academy was recognized recently as a top undergraduate institution in three publications’ college rankings, according to a news release Tuesday from the academy’s Public Affairs office.

    The academy was the No.1 undergraduate institution in the Top Public Schools Regional Colleges North category in the U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings. Its engineering program also ranked in the top ten of such programs, and the school also earned a place in the top 100 undergraduate business programs in the nation.

    In Forbes magazine’s America’s Top Colleges publication, the academy rose to the No. 7 spot on the Top 25 Public Colleges list this year from the No. 18 spot last year. The school also placed at No. 9 in the Top 25 STEM Colleges list this year, after placing 13th last year.

    The academy also earned a spot on The Princeton Review’s Best 382 Colleges publication, which names the top 15% of colleges and universities in the country. Additionally, the Review ranked the academy at No. 4 on its Most Engaged in Community Service list, and No. 6 on the Lots of Race/Class Interaction list.
