Waterford native Tosh Sheridan brings his trio to the Hygienic Art Park for a Sunday concert.

Waterford native and New York City resident Tosh Sheridan, a jazz guitarist of the highest order, returns home Sunday. He's bringing his Tosh Sheridan Trio to the Hygienic Art Park for a performance in their Sunday "Serious Fun" series.

While he earned his Big Apple reputation on a nylon-stringed acoustic and the standards songbook, Sheridan has more recently branched out and explored an electronic sound that infuses rock and blues into the mix. It all happened in magical fashion when he started jamming with old pals Dan Shuman (bass) and Yuichi Kirakawa (drums). Formally banding together, the Tosh Sheridan Trio released a self-titled EP that glistens with energy, funk, chops, power and nuance.

The sound translates live, too, in a big fashion. As Sheridan told The Day in January, describing the trio's first-ever gig in a sedate wine bar, "By the end of the night, the whole place was dancing and we knew we were onto something. It's not exactly the reaction you'd expect in a wine bar, but no one was complaining."

Imagine how this will translate in a music-happy place like the Hygienic. It's gonna rock.
