The Jacksons, The Commodores and the Temptations Revue play Foxwoods

The surly amongst us can perhaps be forgiven if we feel there should be a few asterisks involved with the "Legends of Motown" concert taking place Saturday in the Grand Theater at Foxwoods. The headliners, for example, are:

     • The Jacksons featuring Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Jackie. (* Um, Michael's not going to be there. Trust me. As such, who's going to sing "I'll Be There" and that song about the rat?)

    • The Commodores (** Where's Lionel? No one else better try to tell us it's "easy like Sunday morning.")

    • The Temptaions Revue (*** Otis Williams, Paul Williams, Melvin Franklin, Eddie Kendricks and Elbridge "Al" Bryant? Y'all are all dead!)

But, hey, if "Lynyrd Skynyrd" can tour with one original member, and all of the guys in "The Marshall Tucker Band" are young enough to believe there actually WAS a Marshall Tucker, should we give these Motown vets the benefit of the doubt?

Yes, I cry! I suspect fans will hear a helluva lot of hits — and they'll be really well done, too.
