Willimantic rock trio Dr. Martino plays 'Live Lunch Break'

    Dr. Martino (Ross Page)

A quiz. Willimantic is best known for:

    A. The giant frogs

    B. Cheap and plentiful heroin

    C. The gleeful sounds of indie-garage-surf-pop trio Dr. Martino

    D. A Satanic dentist named Dr. Martino

    E. The roast beef sandwich at Papa's

    F. The Willimantic Brewing Company

There are legitimate reasons to select any of these choices except D (and, yes, we understand that, while maybe there isn't a devil-worshipping Willimantic dentist named Dr. Martino, many of you think "Satanic" and "dentist" are interchangeable).

But let's focus on option C. Dr. Martino are our guests Thursday at noon for a new chapter in The Day's "Live Lunch Break" concert series, taking place in New London's Telegraph Records Shop.

Full of wit and high-voltage energy, Dr. Martino — Simone Puleo, Amy Shaw and Michael Kaminski — spew forth clever three-minute bursts of party-happy tuneage that will rouse you from your noontime, gotta-go-back-to-work doldrums. Not only that, but Dr. Martino are one of the only Young Person bands in the world who happily acknowledge the greatness of Gentle Giant. And, finally, they know what the word "coprophagia" means, as per a song title on their very fine 2014 EP, "Big Day." Impressive!

Live Lunch Break, noon Thursday, Telegraph Records Shop, 19 Golden St., New London; free; theday.com/livelunch.
