Waterford Hotel Group adds five locations to its portfolio

Waterford Hotel Group Inc. has added five hotels — four of them in Connecticut — to its holdings and will take on management of the properties. Waterford and its partners have acquired the 161-room Courtyard by Marriott in Shelton; the 124-suite SpringHill Suites by Marriott and the 74-suite Residence Inn by Marriott, both in Milford; the 132-suite Hyatt House in Windsor; and the 288-room DoubleTree Hotel in Arkansas. Terms of the transactions weren't disclosed. The deals involved different partnerships affiliated with Waterford or its principals.

With the addition of the five hotels, Waterford's portfolio will increase to 28 properties and more than 3,800 rooms. The company's holdings include Mystic Marriott in Groton, Springhill Suites by Marriott in Waterford, Whitehall Mansion in Mystic and Residence Inn by Marriott in Mystic. The two hotels in Milford, which are next to each other, are due to undergo extensive renovations. The Windsor property is the first Hyatt hotel in Waterford's portfolio.

"We have successfully executed our 2015 growth strategy to date and anticipate continued progress in the coming months," said Rob Winchester, Waterford Hotel Group's president and chief operating officer.
