    Fiddleheads celebrating its 8th anniversary

New London — The 1,500-member Fiddleheads Natural Foods Cooperative will unveil a new look and improved ownership benefits at its eighth anniversary celebration Feb. 5-7.

Among the new benefits will be sale pricing available only to members and quarterly coupons for 10 percent off an entire purchase.

"We think these new benefits will save our owners substantial amounts of money, whether they spend $10 or $100 each week at Fiddleheads," Board President Susan Phillips said in a statement. "The community has been incredibly supportive of Fiddleheads for the past eight years. We think that our owners and other shoppers are going to be even more pleased in 2016."

The Broad Street store will kick off its celebration at 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5 with a reception. At 7 p.m., the store will hold a beer tasting with live music by Dan Brothers and Wife, an Appalachian string band.

From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, the store will offer free samples of pizzas, breads, salsa and locally made beer, with free birthday cake available at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Activities are led by the Spark Makerspace in downtown.

“If you haven’t shopped at Fiddleheads recently, this is a great opportunity to stop in, see our improvements, and perhaps become owners,” Interim General Manager Wynston Estis said in a statement. “Over the last few months, we’ve improved the flow of the store and made it more welcoming. We’ve also dramatically lowered our pricing on selected grocery staples.”

Fiddleheads, open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., is at 13 Broad St.
