Developer gives up options on East Windsor casino site

A developer that held options on a proposed casino site in East Windsor no longer holds the options, according to the town's first selectman.

“We have to believe this means the site is no longer being considered,” Robert Maynard announced in a post on the town’s Facebook page.

The developer, Centerplan Companies of Middletown, had proposed a site on Route 5, off Exit 44 of Interstate 91. East Windsor, one of four municipalites that responded to the Mashantucket Pequot and Mohegan tribes’ request for casino site proposals, has also offered other locations in town.

East Windsor residents expressed doubts about the Route 5 site at a meeting last month.
