Greater Mystic chamber president leaves organization

Mystic — Tricia Walsh, president of the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce since 2013, is no longer with the organization, the chamber’s board of directors indicated Friday.

While Walsh reportedly decided to pursue other career interests, the board declined to discuss her leaving.

Stephen Clemente, the board chairman, referred an inquiry about Walsh to the board’s vice chairwoman, Dale Wolbrink, who said she was “handling all press inquiries.”

“As I’m sure you can appreciate, as a policy, the chamber does not discuss personnel matters,” Wolbrink wrote in an email. “The Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce remains keenly focused on the future of this organization and fulfilling its mission. For the immediate future, the Executive Board will be providing oversight and guidance to the chamber staff.”

Lisa Konicki, executive director of the Ocean Community Chamber of Commerce in Westerly, said the Mystic chamber informed her of Walsh's departure Friday "as a professional courtesy."

Walsh performed duties as chamber president this week, including appearing Monday at the grand opening of the Charter Oak Federal Credit Union’s Mystic branch. She attended a chamber luncheon Thursday, according to Konicki.

Tony Sheridan, president and chief executive officer of the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut, said he was surprised to learn of Walsh’s departure.
