Mystic chamber moving next to Seaport entrance

The Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce announced Monday that it's moving its office and welcome center to 62 Greenmanville Ave., adjacent to Mystic Seaport’s main entrance. The chamber's new location will be open in early November.

“Located along the principal road to Connecticut’s most popular tourist attractions, this new location will serve as a visible gateway to the many visitors to our area, provide superior exposure and promotion for our members and strengthen the chamber’s nearly 80-year history of bridging business and community,” Bill Smith, the chamber's interim president, said in a news release.

Originally a residence built in 1899, the new location will provide the chamber with significantly more space than its current office in the Mystic Packer Building at 12 Roosevelt Ave., where it's been since January 2014.

"Over the next few months, we will reach out to state and local organizations to determine where synergies exist and how to smartly join forces to bolster our tourism industry and regional economy," said Stephen Clemente, chairman of the chamber's board of directors.
