People from New London County are among the most responsible in Connecticut when it comes to using their credit cards.
According to a new SmartAsset study, New London County residents are behind only Middlesex and Fairfield County residents in an index of factors tied to credit card debt. The county's per-capita income of $34,241 is third lowest among the state's counties, but its credit card debt as a percentage of income, at 9.3 percent, is tied for fourth best among the eight counties.
Credit card debt as a percentage of wealth is 5.9 percent locally, also fourth best in the state, the study found.
