    North Stonington's Firefly Farms to attend Forbes AgTech Summit

    North Stonington — Two managers of Firefly Farms have been invited to attend the 2017 Forbes Magazine AgTech Summit, and will be among only 600 nationwide to take part.

    The summit will bring together "the smartest minds at the intersection of Silicon Valley and global agriculture," according to the description of the event, and "showcase the latest innovations for farmers, investors and stakeholders of global food systems."

    Dugan Tillman-Brown, farm manager, and Beth Tillman, farm partner at Firefly Farms, will attend the Salinas, Calif., summit on June 28-29.

    Sessions will explore "drought solutions, future of food production, rise of organics, robotic tech in the field, labor," according to the event description.

    Firefly Farms of North Stonington is one of only two farms in Connecticut to be certified humane. It also "raises and cares for rare and critically endangered" livestock breeds, according to the farm's website.
