Ledyard — The town's Economic Development Commission is asking local businesses to fill out a survey about how town government can assist.

A postcard mailed to 300 local firms asks them to fill out an online survey.

"We are trying to reach out to the many small and mid-size businesses in our Town to find ways we can work together to help them grow and prosper," Economic Development Commission Chairman Elizabeth Peterson said in a news release. "We would like to know about things we, as a Town, are doing well and issues that we need to work on."

The survey asks if businesses would like a town representative to visit them and what the owners' future plans are.

"Anything we can do to foster better communication with our business community can only help our Town," Mayor Fred B. Allyn III said. "I encourage firms to participate in the survey and look forward to the results."
