Future building to house Bob's Discount Furniture wins zoning approval in New London

New London — The Planning and Zoning Commission on Thursday unanimously approved plans for a multiphased construction project that is expected to include opening of a future Bob’s Discount Furniture retail store.

The commission approved construction of an unnamed retail store and self-storage building with associated parking site improvements and utility relocations at 389 North Frontage Road.

The commission also approved two other projects. One is an indoor skate park, which is expected to hold weeklong skate camps at a warehouse at 139 Shaw St. The applicant, Charles King, is the founder of Hive Skate Shop. The other project is construction of a 3,000-square-foot building at 436 Broad St. The applicant has expressed the desire to open a marijuana dispensary, an accepted retail use in a commercial zone in the city.
