Analysis: It's the NEFC opener for Coast Guard on Parents' Weekend and there's no tougher team in the league than Salve Regina. Salve comes into the game ranked fifth in New England, the winner of seven straight games, including last year's ECAC Northeast Bowl. Salve topped Castleton State 32-14 last week, a game in which Pascale ran for 211 yards and a touchdown to earn NEFC Offensive Player of the Week honors. The Seahawks lead the league in scoring (36.5), pass offense (289 yards per game) and total offense (557 yards per game) and will test the Coast Guard defense to the max. "It's what it's about," said Coast Guard linebacker and senior captain Paul Puddington, who returned an interception last week for a touchdown. "I'm really excited to start conference play. At the beginning of the season, we had a goal to go 1-0 each week. When we lost last week (40-24) to Catholic, we said, 'Just let it suck until midnight tonight. We can't change it now.' Now we're 0-0 like we're going into our first game of the season, and we have to go 1-0." ... Salve defeated Coast Guard last year 20-10, scoring 20 unanswered points. ... Salve was picked to finish third in the NEFC behind MIT and Western New England. Coast Guard was chosen sixth. ... Coast Guard has one more season after this to compete in the NEFC before being a part of the inaugural season of football in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference. ... Victory, a junior who has started 19 straight games for Coast Guard at quarterback and is 463 of 830 for 4,350 yards in his career, needs just 19 attempts snf 219 yards to set the career records in those categories.
