Hip surgery to sideline Sun's Griffin indefinitely

Mohegan — Connecticut Sun forward Kelsey Griffin underwent arthroscopic surgery on her left hip on Friday morning and will be sideline indefinitely.

"Our primary concern right now is Kelsey's health and well-being," Sun general manager Chris Sienko said in a statement released by the team. "We have yet to establish a timeline for her recovery, but will provide updates as they become available."

The surgery was performed by team physician Ammar Anbari at the Constitution Surgical Center in Waterford.

Griffin, who has been with the Sun since 2010, played 13 minutes in the preseason opener against the Indiana Fever in Louisville, finishing with eight points in five rebounds.
