The Connecticut Sun announced Tuesday that they have re-signed guard Alex Bentley to a multi-year contract.

Terms of the deal were not released.

"I'm so thankful to be continuing my career in Connecticut," Bentley said. "The coaching staff has embraced me since day one and has allowed me to grow as a player on the court. I'm excited about our future as a franchise and hope our fans are just as excited to watch us do some exciting things in the near future."

The Sun acquired Bentley via trade in 2014 and she has been one of the team’s three top scorers in each of the past three seasons. She made a career-best 34 starts last season and led the team in scoring (12.9), was second in assists (85), and played a career-high 979 minutes. She was also selected to play for the Eastern Conference in the 2015 All-Star Game.

"We are excited that Alex has signed a multi-year contract as she heads into the prime of her career," said Curt Miller, Connecticut's head coach and general manager. "She gives us a versatile combo guard with an aggressive scoring mentality. She has produced consistent numbers over the last three seasons for the Sun and I appreciate the confidence that she brings onto the court."

Bentley is the second player to re-sign in as many weeks with the Sun as starting point guard Jasmine Thomas inked a two-year deal on Feb. 2. Connecticut has two other free agents — starting post Camille Little and reserve guard Kelly Faris. Faris is a restricted free agent, so Sun have the option to match any contract she's offered by another team. Little was designated as a core player, meaning that Connecticut has exclusive negotating rights with her.
