Sun visit powerhouse Lynx on Tuesday

The Connecticut Sun received a schedule that makes even the most veteran WNBA player wince.

Connecticut plays eight of its first 11 games (and 12 of the first 19) on the road. And four of its next five are away games.

The Sun conclude a two-game road trip on Tuesday night against one of the league's best, the Minnesota Lynx. The game is at Target Center (8 p.m.) and will be broadcast on ESPN2.

Connecticut (0-2) wasted an 11-point, third-quarter lead against the Indiana Fever on Saturday and lost 81-79. It never trailed in the second half until the final 46 seconds. It hurt itself with fouls (Indiana made 28 of 29 free throws) and turnovers (the Fever scored 21 on 18 Sun turnovers).

Starting point guard Jasmine Thomas is back with Connecticut after missing Saturday’s game due to her brother’s wedding. Starting forward Alyssa Thomas is still in concussion protocol after being hurt on May 13 against the Atlanta Dream.

Minnesota was picked to win its fourth WNBA title in seven seasons in this year’s WNBA.com GM survey. It’s off to a 3-0 start, including a 90-71 road rout of the New York Liberty on May 18.

Center Sylvia Fowles leads the Lynx in scoring (21.7) and rebounding (10) and was named the WNBA Western Conference Player of the Week for games played May 13-21. Former UConn great Maya Moore has averaged 16 points, 7.3 rebounds and 5.7 assists.
