Mr. and Mrs. Brian Belcher of Gales Ferry are delighted to announce the engagement of their daughter, Rebecca Lauren, to Jonathan Paul Ostermann, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Ostermann of Daleville, Va.

Rebecca, a 2008 graduate of Ledyard High School, graduated summa cum laude from Eastern Connecticut State University in 2013 with dual degrees, a bachelor of science in elementary education and a bachelor of arts in history. She teaches fourth grade at Quaker Hill Elementary School in Waterford.

Jonathan, a 2008 graduate of the Virginia Military Institute, is a submarine officer currently stationed at the Naval Submarine School in Groton.

The couple plans a July 2015 wedding.
