Meadows Brothers, Ebin-Rose Trio and more play in Old Saybrook to benefit soup kitchen

If I'm going to risk life and limb and sanity to venture out on Black Friday for actual shopping purposes, I'm gonna be shopping for ME. No one else is worth the danger!

If you're of a similar mindset — and I suspect you are — then you'll feel guilty about such selfishness (even though it felt so damned good earlier, out there amongst the throngs, elbowing and kicking and clubbing your way through crowds and buying expensive gifts in extravagant and selfish fashion).

Assuage all remorse that evening, then, with a visit to the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center. They're hosting the annual Black Friday Benefit — a multi-band performance in support of the Shoreline Soup Kitchen and Pantries. You'll get to do a lot of good — and hear great music in return. On the bill are The Meadows Brothers, the Ebin-Rose Trio, Washboard Slim & the Bluelights, Carter Gowrie, Leonard Wyeth and Paul Neri. And note: 100 percent of ticket, CD and merch sales go to the cause.

Black Friday Benefit Concert, 8 p.m. Friday, Katharine  Hepburn Cultural Arts Center, 300 Main St., Old Saybrook; $25; 1-877-503-1286.
