Gear-head historians, gather round for the Antique Marine Engine Exposition at the Mystic Seaport on Saturday and Sunday.

The exposition will display full-size and miniature engines kept running by collectors from all across the country and from the seaport’s own engine collection staff. With more than 300 engines exhibited and some portion fired up to see (and most definitely hear) their inner workings, this marine engine exposition is among the largest in the country. Expect to see inboards, outboards, gasoline, steam, electric, diesel and naphtha engines, and the collection focuses on 19th- and early 20th-century marine engines.

Antique Marine Engine Exposition, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, Henry B. duPont Preservation Shipyard at The Mystic Seaport, Greenmanville Avenue; exposition is free with seaport admission, which is $28.95 adults, $26.95 seniors, $18.95 youths, and free for children; (860) 572-0711.
