Misquamicut Fallfest returns for seventh year

The Misquamicut Fallfest makes its return for the seventh year, and it’s expected to attract over 10,000 people to the sandy shoreline this weekend.

Hosted by The Misquamicut Business Association and Town of Westerly, the fest promises 400 feet of food trucks, a stilt-walking fire juggler, karate demos, a climbing walls, rides and a lot of live music.

Flashback to the 1980s seems to be the overarching theme this year in the concert lineup. Rubix Kube, the '80s tribute band, is slated to play on Friday. And Rhode Island natives John Cafferty & the Beaver Brown Band will perform Saturday. Songs from their setlist will include “Dark Side,” “C-I-T-Y,” “Tender Years” and “Tough All Over.”

New aspects in this year’s event include: an electric car show where you can test drive electric cars, Sasha the Fire Gypsy, an Antique Fire Muster, and a stage show by singer-songwriters Steve Elci & Friends.

Misquamicut Fallfest, 5-11 p.m. Fri., 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Sat., and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sun., Misquamicut State Beach, Westerly; admission $8, free for kids 4 and under; parking is free; misquamicutfestival.org.
