Comc Ari Shaffir appears Friday at Foxwoods
Comedian Ari Shaffir headlines the Fox Theater at Foxwoods Friday, but, as with many working comics today, his career goes way beyond standup.
For a representative example, he's active in podcasts — his own "Skeptic Tank," as well as in a frequent-guest context; he hosted Comedy Central's "This is Not Happening" storytellers series; he produced a very funny video program called "The Amazing Racist"; and, last year, he came out with a clever Netflix special called "Double Negative," which is, in fact, two short standup specials hooked back-to-back.
Shaffir is fairly typical of a lot of modern observational comics in his darkly hysterical take on the idiocies of being human in the modern world. Fortunately for Shaffir, there are a LOT of idiocies; fortunately for us, he's got some truly clever takes on a lot of them.
Ari Shaffir, 8 p.m. Friday, Fox Theater, Foxwoods; $29; 1-800-200-2882.
