Westerly gallery celebrates August show and temporary relocation
Join members of the Artists’ Cooperative Gallery of Westerly Friday as they celebrate the opening of their newest show “A Dot on a Walk,” as well as their temporary relocation into the former Westerly train station located on 14 Railroad Ave. Their current gallery, located at 7 Canal Street in the United Theatre arts complex, will be undergoing construction as the theater is renovated over the next couple years — an exciting opportunity for the gallery to utilize its larger exhibition space in new ways. Making immediate use of that, August’s show will feature two Cooperative artists in a joint exhibition.
Photographer Ardie Harrison will showcase photos he took on a recent trip to Scotland, while woodworker James “Pep” Pepitone will exhibit his hand-crafted tables. Pepitone is known for his driftwood furniture pieces and is the founder of Beach + Barn Furniture.
The show will open Wednesday and an opening reception will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday. The reception, as well as the show, is free and open to the public. The show run until Sept. 2. Hours are 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Wed.-Sat. and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sun.; (401) 596-2221, www.westerlyarts.com.
