    High school tennis: Fitch boys beat Ledyard to remain unbeaten

    Ledyard - Fitch's Geoff Cote won in three sets at No. 1 singles and the Falcons went on to a 6-1 victory over Ledyard on Friday in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Large Division boys' tennis match.

    Cote rallied to defeat Jack Potter, 4-6, 6-1, 6-1. William Baldwin and Chase Brown also won singles matches for Fitch (3-0, 2-0) and Danny Cusmano won at No. 4 singles for Ledyard (0-4, 0-3).  

    In other matches:

    • Andrew Carlson, Bahaa Hoda and Nate Bowe won their singles matches in straight sets in New London/Wheeler's 6-1 win over Killingly in the ECC Medium. The Whalers are 1-3, 1-2. 

    Girls

    • Emily Brault won her No. 3 singles match 6-0, 6-0 highlight Old Lyme's 6-1 victor over Cromwell in the Shoreline Conference. Meredith Aird, Hannah O'Brien and Marissa Smith added singles wins for the Wildcats as did the No. 2 doubles team of Holly Fiscus-Keelin Hurtt.

    • Jennifer Hester, Mia Ferguson, Meagan McAdams and Laura Huapaya won singles matches for Montville in a 7-0 victory over Windham in the ECC Small. The No. 3 doubles team of Amanda Hester and Indigo Whisman, both freshmen, won 7-6, 6-0 for the Indians (2-1, 1-1).

    • Norwich Tech blanked Grasso Tech 7-0 in the Constitution State Conference, getting shutout wins from Emily Kivela and Lauren Fiasconaro and the doubles teams of Leah Richovsky-Taya Gollsneider and Anjoli Kamuda-Chanelle Taylor. Norwich Tech is 4-1.

    • Norwich Free Academy lost to Woodstock Academy in an ECC Large Division match, 5-2. Lauren Jacobs won at No. 3 singles and the doubles team of Lauren Bower and Kaitlyn McGuire also won for NFA (0-4, 0-3). 

    • Diana Francis, Laura Krick, Kailey Sullivan and Jessica Cote posted singles wins in Fitch's 7-0 sweep of Ledyard in the ECC Large. The Falcons improved to 3-1, 2-1, and the Colonels fell to 0-3. 0-2.
