    H.S. tennis roundup: Stonington boys top Fitch

    Stonington — Stonington High School swept singles play en route to a 5-2 win over Fitch in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Large Division boys' tennis match Friday.

    Jacob Stiger, Mitchell Edwards, Chris Tsang and William Micheson had straight-set wins for Stonington (4-2, 3-2) along with teammates Ryan Sealey and Sean Bessette at No. 1 doubles. The doubles teams of Chris Russo-Aidan Sullivan and Frankie Delcampo-Ben Flax won for Fitch (4-2, 2-2).

    In other matches:

    • Waterford rolled past Norwich Free Academy 7-0 in the ECC Large Division. Camiren Carter, Mike Gianakos, James Zhu and Hugh Sokolski were straight-set winners in singles. The doubles teams of Evan Burdsall-Dylan Vitale, Adam Pinch-David Perez and Hugh Mugavero-David Hausmann also won for Waterford (5-2, 4-1). 

    • Eric Wu, Ashwin Menon, Sumeet Kadian and Eric Gu won in singles and East Lyme blanked Woodstock Academy 7-0 in the ECC Large Division. Mukesh Kurumball and Davon Chen won No. 1 doubles for East Lyme (5-0, 5-0) followed by Charlie Lyden-Conrad French and Mark Powers-Holden Costa.

    Girls

    • Tessa Rummel won her match at No. 4 singles in three sets and Montville swept the doubles matches in a 5-2 victory over Bacon Academy in the ECC Small Division, the Indians' first victory of the season. Luisa Alarcon won at No. 3 singles for Montville (1-6, 1-4) and the Indians got doubles wins from the teams of Kayla Andrews-Tiffany Liang, Karen Lau-Abby Houser and Vicky Lin-Rachel Liang.

    • Alaina Moger, Sophie Wang, Sarah Verity and Sophie Impelliteri won in singles and Waterford defeated NFA 7-0 in the ECC Large Division. Catherine Wao/Margret Lincoln, Deepa Reddy/Cassandra Gonsalves and Sophie Joseph/Becca Clark won in doubles for the Lancers (5-2, 4-1). NFA is 2-6, 0-6.

    • Olivia Lyon won at No. 1 singles and Ledyard defeated Lyman Memorial 5-2 in the ECC Small Division. Erika deAndrade, Rachel Kane and Cynthia Petersons also won singles matches for Ledyard (4-3, 4-1).

    • Stonington's Gabby Dellacono, Charlotte Johnstone and Mackenzie Sadler remained unbeaten in singles as the Bears topped Fitch 6-1 in the ECC Large Division. Claire Morehouse and Phoebe Townsend added a win at No. 1 doubles, as Stonington improved to 6-0 overall, 5-0 in its first year in the division. Brielle Frantoni-Jaskiewicz and Hannah Middleton won at No. 2 doubles and Holly Foster and Cassie Onorato picked up a victory at No. 3. Fitch is 4-2, 2-2.

    • Woodstock Academy beat East Lyme 5-2 in the ECC Large. The doubles teams of Colleen Keller and Ashley Brown and Lily Slemp and Shauna Kim won for East Lyme (3-4, 1-4).

    • Emily Brault won No. 2 singles in Old Lyme's 5-2 loss to Valley Regional. Marissa Smith and Shannon Nosal won No. 1 doubles for the Wildcats.
