East Lyme's baseball title bid put on hold for a day
East Lyme's bid to win its first state baseball championship since 1989 has been put on hold for a day.
Saturday night's Class L championship game between the fourth-seeded Vikings and No. 11 Notre Dame of West Haven at Palmer Field in Middletown was postponed by CIAC officials due to heavy rain earlier in the day which forced a two-hour delay in the Class LL game and also forced the postponement of the Class S final scheduled to be played at 4 p.m.
The Class LL game was eventually resumed with top-seeded Amity winning its fourth straight title with a 4-3 win over No. 10 Fairfield Warde, but with more rain in the forecast for later in the day, the CIAC moved the other two state finals to Sunday.
No. 3 Morgan will play No. 4 St. Paul for the Class S championship at 12:30 p.m., followed by the Class L final between East Lyme and Notre Dame at 4.
