    H.S. roundup: East Lyme rolls past Waterford 3-0 in girls' soccer

    Waterford — The East Lyme High School girls' soccer team remained unbeaten with a 3-0 win over Waterford on Thursday night.

    Mackenzie Northcutt, Isabelle Riker and Alivia Catanzaro scored goals, Stephanie deLaforcade and Berkeley Callaghan had assists and Hayley Sorrentino made six saves for the Vikings (7-0-1).

    Jordan Kovacs made nine saves for Waterford (3-2-2).  

    In other games:

    • Keelin Hurtt had two goals and an assist and Mya Johnson scored three times as Old Lyme improved to 9-1 with a 5-1 win over Portland in a Shoreline Conference game. Jenna Peduzzi and Caleigh O'Neil had assists and Katherine Pettersen made eight saves for Old Lyme.

    • Kara Bassett scored three goals and had an assist as St. Bernard beat Tourtellotte 5-1 in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division III game. Emma Givens had a goal and an assist, Mia Londregan had two assists, Caroline Codner scored a goal, Briana Beverly made four saves and Angela Abraham had an assist for St. Bernard (5-1-2, 4-1-1).

    • Stonington took a 2-0 halftime lead and held on to beat Fitch 2-1. Anna Foster and Kate Hall scored for Stonington (3-2-2), Jessica Detwiler had an assist and Hannah Lamb and Lainnie Connor combined for six saves. Samantha Rebein scored for Fitch (1-5) and teammate Heather Haddon made 10 saves.

    • Olivia Meehan and Jess Stronach each scored twice as Montville beat New London 9-0. Rachel Marchini and Tiffany Evans had a goal and an assist each, Maddy Campbell, Katelin Price and Kara Beaupre scored goals and Michaela MacCracken and Maddie Beaupre had assists for Montville (4-1-1).

    • Malaria Sorel scored a pair of goals as Woodstock Academy rolled to a 4-0 victory over Ledyard. The Colonels are 2-6.

    Boys' soccer

    • Graham Aird scored 2:58 into the match and Old Lyme cruised to a 4-0 victory over Portland in the Shoreline Conference. Aird and Parker Stone each finished with one goal and one assist for the Wildcats (6-1-2), while Danny Reid and Evan Getz also scored goals, Danny Cole added an assist and goalie Ryan Tetreault made three saves for the shutout.

    Field hockey

    • Waterford and Fitch/Ledyard played to a scoreless overtime tie in Groton. Erin Ritter stopped all five shots in goal for the Falcons (1-3-2, 1-3-2) while goalie Mikayla Brucoli made five saves for the Lancers (2-4-1, 2-3-1).

    Volleyball

    • Norwich Tech lost to Killingly 25-22, 22-25, 25-11, 18-25, 15-11 in a nonleague match. Vanessa Gumbs had 16 kills and seven digs, Madison Bodley had nine kills and 11 digs, Kaitlyn Gifford had 12 assists and Courtney Majewski had 15 points for Norwich Tech (8-2).
