    H.S. roundup: Fitch volleyball finishes 8-0 in ECC Division I play

    Norwich — Fitch completed a perfect season in Eastern Connecticut Conference Division I with a 3-1 volleyball victory Wednesday over Norwich Free Academy.

    Game scores were 25-23, 22-25, 25-22 and 25-23.

    Ryana Kelsey had 12 kills for the Falcons (12-5, 8-0), while Olivia Nordstrom added 32 assists, Caroline Parker 18 digs and Nora Ryan 10 kills and four blocks.

    Kayley Ericson had 35 assists and 15 digs to lead NFA (9-5, 4-3), while Mackenzie Burke added 15 kills and 14 digs, Emily Marker 15 digs and Megan Goldstein 10 kills.

    In other matches:

    • Norwich Tech won the Constitution State Conference East Division title with a 3-1 victory over Ellis Tech. Game scores were 27-29, 25-15, 25-23 and 25-6. Madison Bodley had 21 kills, 17 service points and four aces for the Warriors (13-3, 8-0), while Vanessa Gumbs added 10 kills, 10 digs, 17 service points and two aces and while Halle Baron had 16 assists.

    • East Lyme defeated New London 25-12, 25-12 and 24-11 in an ECC Division I match. Freshman Sophie Dubreuil had three digs and three assists for the Vikings (7-7, 4-3), while Lauren Imbriaco added three blocks. Mack Jeannie Joseph had 11 digs and Marissa Parker nine digs for New London (1-13, 0-7).

    • Livy Schumacher had three kills during Old Lyme's 25-8, 25-16 and 25-12 loss to Valley Regional in the Shoreline Conference. Julie Golebiewski added one block and Lauren Williams four assists for Old Lyme.

    • Jillian Reynolds had five aces and 29 assists to lead Bacon Academy to a 25-16, 25-17, 25-23 win over Waterford in an ECC Division II match. Ana Magano had five kills and Gretchen Dusza 11 digs and 18 assists for Waterford (8-8, 4-3).

    • Montville rallied for a 3-2 victory over Ledyard. Game scores were 19-24, 24-14, 11-25, 27-25 and 15-11. Hailey Edwards led Montville (5-12) with 25 digs and Polina Boteva added 12 digs. Ahna Harkness had 11 assists, Whitney Brandt 12 kills and Miranda Chesnut eight kills for Ledyard (7-10).

    • Lyman Memorial rolled to a 25-20, 25-8 and 25-11 win over Wheeler in an ECC Division III match. Gracie Anglin had six kills and two digs, Raina Haase had two kills, one ace and two blocks and Sarah Spracklin had three kills and six digs for Wheeler (5-12, 1-6).

    Boys' soccer

    • Ledyard earned a state tournament bid for the first time in four years with a 5-0 victory over New London in an ECC Division I matchup. Bo Nguyen scored a pair of goals for the Colonels (7-8, 3-5) while Matt Scahill and Blake McHale added two assists apiece. Trevor Hutchins, Cole Dirico and Owen Wheeler also scored goals for Ledyard, while Garrick Prior and Carl Bien-Aimes combined for four saves in goal. Giuseppe Conte stopped 11 shots for New London (2-12, 0-8), which was outshot 24-10.

    • Ryan Black scored two goals in the first half as Woodstock Academy defeated Montville 2-0 in an ECC Division II game. The Centaurs are 10-4-1, 6-3-1. Goalie Nik Strickland made four saves for Montville (7-7, 3-7).

    • Goals by Hunter Baillargeon and Jack O'Leary lifted St. Bernard to a 2-1 victory over Wheeler in an ECC Division III match. Ryan Condon scored for Wheeler (3-11-1, 3-8) and goalie Bowen Baker made eight saves, while Juan Uran stopped 10 shots in goal for St. Bernard (6-8-1, 6-5-1).

    • Jason Kilcoyne took a long throw-in by Cam Whalen and scored in the 13th minute to give Stonington a 1-0 victory over Killingly in an ECC Division II matchup. The Bears (8-5-2, 4-4-2) held an 8-1 edge in shots and Joey Rosa made just one save to earn the shutout.

    Boys' cross country

    • Williams School finished with 37 points to defeat Wilbraham & Monson and host Hamden Hall in a tri-meet. Will Jarrett was the overall winner for the Blues, completing the 5K course in 19:15, while Colin Madaus was sixth (20:31), Eli Griswold ninth (20:48) and Harmut Doerwaldt 10th (20:48).

    Girls' cross country

    • Williams scored 25 points to defeat Hamden Hall and Wilbraham & Monson. Catherine Shannon was the individual winner for the Blues in 21:57 while Mary Madaus was second (22:26), Grace Cassineri fourth (25:12) and Grace Burleson seventh (27:23).
