    H.S. basketball: Ledyard boys rally to edge Bacon 70-69

    Colchester — Ledyard rallied in the fourth quarter to pull out a 70-69 boys' basketball victory over Bacon Academy on Friday night.

    The Colonels (6-2) trailed 53-47 after three quarters, took the lead midway through the fourth quarter, and then made 10 of 12 free throws in the final minute to hang on.

    Isiah McNair scored 23 points to lead Ledyard, including four 3-pointers, whle Steve Fletcher added 18.

    Paul Chasse led Bacon with 21 points.

    In other games:

    • Melquann Gomez scored 16 points as New London pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 54-38 win over Stonington. Stonington led 25-22 at halftime, and the Whalers took a 38-34 lead into the fourth quarter. Gio Lopez scored 13 for New London (5-3). Matt Schmeelk had 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Bears (5-5) and Zach Scott scored 10.

    • Kiev Lucas scored 13 points, making three 3-pointers, as Fitch defeated Woodstock Academy 45-38. The Falcons (2-4) led 13-3 after one quarter.

    • Nate Perdomo scored 22 points as Norwich Tech picked up its first win, beating Ellis Tech 61-54 in a Constitution State Conference East Division game. Jared Neal had 15 points and Davion Hernandez scored 12 for Norwich Tech (1-6, 1-2).

    • Montville beat St. Bernard, 58-32. Cam Collins had 22 points for Montville (3-6) and Hunter Baillargeon and Cameron Beaudet had eight points each for St. Bernard (3-5).

    • McMahon of Norwalk outscored Waterford 29-19 in the fourth quarter to come away with an 87-76 win in the nonleague game. Adam Pinch and Jeff Evans scored 24 points each, Walker Sutman had 10 points and 10 rebounds and Mike Buscetto had 11 points, 11 assists and five steals for Waterford (6-3).

    • Wheeler lost to first-place Plainfield 61-44 in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division III game. Roger Watrous scored 21 points for the Lions (1-7, 0-5) and Ryan Dussault added 15 points.

    • Williams School lost to Rocky Hill (R.I.), 64-35. August Chapman had 11 points and nine rebounds and Nick Bonner scored eight for Williams.

    Girls

    • Williams avenged an earlier defeat by beating Rocky Hill (R.I.) 34-31 in overtime. Katia Bourganos had 15 points and Audrey Matson scored nine for Williams.

    • Audrey Gavin scored 25 points as Old Lyme beat Portland 36-33 in a Shoreline Conference game. Gavin also had seven rebounds, four steals and three blocked shots for the Wildcats (6-4, 6-3).

    • St. Bernard beat Montville 44-30, as Caitlyn Dittman had 19 points and Emily Nelson scored 18 for the Saints (7-3). Brooke LaVallie had 15 points and Emily Meigs scored 11 for Montville (4-7).

    • Freshman Sophie Dubreuil scored 17 points as East Lyme outscored Killingly 20-8 in the first quarter en route to a 56-44 victory over the Redgals. Megan Bauman added 13 points for the Vikings (7-4) and Allie Christensen had 10.

    • Sam Muller scored 10 points during Wheeler's 45-32 loss to Plainfield in an ECC Division III game. Savannah Gallucci added eight points and Emma Morgan seven for the Lions (1-10,0-5).

    • Norwich Tech held Ellis Tech to four points in the second half as the Warriors pulled away for a 37-19 victory in the CSC East. Leading 18-15 at the break, Norwich Tech outscored Ellis 19-4 over the final 16 minutes. Madison Bodley had 11 points, 14 rebounds and three assists for the Warriors (3-6, 3-3) and Vanessa Gumbs scored 12 points.

    • Kellie Nudd had 24 points and Jocelyn Luizzi scored 20 as Bacon Academy beat Ledyard 58-40. Sarah Serbascewicz had 12 points and four assists, Johnay Burns had 11 points and 10 rebounds and Julia Lavin scored 11 for Ledyard (4-5).
