CIAC moves three state championship football games to Monday night

Cheshire — The CIAC has revised its schedule for the four state championship football games scheduled to be played Saturday due to weather forecasts calling for significant snowfall.

Only one game — the Class LL final between Greenwich and Darien — will be played as scheduled at Boyle Stadium in Stamford, although the starting time has been moved from 11 to 10 a.m. The other three finals will now be played Monday night at 6:30.

The Class L final between Hand and Masuk has been moved from Willow Brook Park in New Britain to Trumbull High School, the Class M final between Killingly and Barlow will remain at Willow Brook Park, and the Class S final between Ansonia and St. Joseph has been moved from West Haven High School to Cheshire High School.

In a release Friday afternoon, the CIAC said it "determined the updated schedule while considering appropriate and available sites, weather forecasts and requests from school districts indicating they were uncomfortable competing and traveling on Saturday given the weather forecast."
