Marriage letter was wrong in so many ways

The letter "Same-sex marriages don't produce kids," (Nov. 16), is wrong on so many levels that I'm not sure where to begin. "There is a very simple reason why men and women can marry and same-sex people cannot." Same-sex people can (and do) marry! "Married men and women produce children. Same-sex people do not." Women produce children - married or not and with or without a husband.

"That is why married men and women enjoy the fringe benefits of being married." As do same-sex married couples, whatever those benefits might be!

"By raising children, married men and women make an invaluable contribution to society which same-sex couples cannot."

Suggesting that same-sex couples can't make an invaluable contribution to society or can't produce the same successes (and also abject failures) defies reason.

The writer references Larry Kudlow regarding marriage. Mr. Kudlows statements on the topic relate only to the economic stability that committed relationships nurture.

At no time does he suggest that marriage is ill-conceived for same-sex couples. The world and its people evolve.

Three years from now, this topic will have been relegated to the obscurity it deserves.

By the way, I'm a heterosexual, married, father of two.
