Democrat licks wounds amidst tea party talk

As I sat in a local coffee shop licking my wounds over the Republican rout in the midterms, I patiently listened to a conversation between four self-described tea party folks at an adjacent table. They were rightfully basking in the nationwide win for the GOP. This was a sixth-year loss like no other.

As the talk turned to the Connecticut election they appeared to be distraught over the results. They talked about this socialist state and how horrible it is. My thoughts were that the midterms elect the congressional delegation and state and local offices. It did give me some comfort to know that Connecticut remains solidly blue.

As the conversation moved forward to local issues, there was much talk about leaving the state. They talked of South Carolina, Alabama, but came to a consensus that the Gulf coast of Florida would be the best place. Their total disgust with the president who they think was born in Kenya, the attorney general who should be arrested, and the ACA, which is ruining this country, was apparent.

My thoughts were that if all four left and moved to Florida, they would actually raise the average IQ of both states.
