    Guard CIA secrets

    Keep quiet.

    A lot can be said about the Senate Intelligence Committee report on alleged CIA abuses, "CIA chief defends agency," (Dec. 12), including this: Trying to publicly micromanage America's secret service through hindsight may make for watchable political theater but is bad policy. Discretion and secrecy are major factors in the CIA's success. Those few in Congress with oversight responsibilities should carry them out with discretion and in secrecy.
