New London is always looking for money and yet about 60 cars a day park across from General Dynamics (Electric Boat) at no cost to the car owners. Why not have meters put there at 25 cents per hour? The cars average seven hours per day. Closely monitored by the police department, this would bring in a lot of money. You can also have a system in which apps could be set up and car owners could put in additional funds for extra hours. New Haven has this sort of operation working at the present time. If all of this is too much work, we should try to bill Electric Boat for all of these parking spaces on a monthly basis.

Whatever the case, this is free parking that New London cannot afford to offer.
