We are a nation needlessly consumed by fear

The United States has become a nation consumed by one fear after another, thanks partially to media and political groups. One day it is the fear of Ebola, then the next day it is ISIS. There are people who actually think ISIS is going to march on London, Paris, New York, etc.

That is not going to happen. Certainly that group is about as barbaric as any we have seen since WWII. I think, however, that we should put some perspective on the dangers of these radical groups.

First of all let us remember that we invaded Iraq and killed, maimed, wounded, and tortured somewhere probably between 300,000-500,000 people in a war that was justified by totally false pretenses.

Neither Iraq, nor its people, were a danger to the United States or its citizens.

Secondly, although we obviously should protect ourselves against isolated terror attacks on this country, let me remind everyone that since 9/11 Americans have murdered over 150,000 of their own people. The American citizen is far and away more likely to be killed by a fellow American than by any terrorist plot. That internal violence is what we should be paying attention to.
