Raising Medicare eligibility age deadly mistake

Isn’t it a great inconsistency on the part of those who want to raise the age eligibility for Medicare, op-ed, “GOP’s zombie-like attack on Medicare,” (July 7) that those seniors affected will be forced to stay with their private insurers? That means they will suffer the hardships of increasing premiums, greater co-pays and less covered services that private insurers depend on to stay competitive and to make profits for shareholders.
Worse, don’t the backers of this idea know that the recent trend to mergers, as we have seen between Anthem/Cigna and Aetna/ Humana, will likely make the problem worse for seniors if the eligibility age is raised?
Our seniors must be protected against the zombies.
