So much bad news, now higher taxes?

Our governor is laying off 2,500 state workers. He’s cutting aid to Connecticut cities, towns, and hospitals. He’s closing disability centers and industries and businesses are leaving the state. Connecticut ranks in the top 10 of the most expensive states to live in, more people are leaving and less people are coming here.

Montville, like other cities, has lost industries, and jobs. Our schools are facing declining enrollment and teachers are being laid off. The expense of an independent police department was voted down because of unknown costs, and the town’s seniors have not seen a cost of living increase in over two years.

And yet, in spite of these uncertainties, the mayor is proposing a tax increase that will further impact Montville  residents. When is enough, enough? Go figure.
