Bring back recycling to public housing

I am wondering why the New London Housing Authority (NLHA) does not recycle the waste that we tenants produce. NLHA at one time did. We were given bins in which to separate our trash; we recycled everything possible, newspapers, bottles, cans, etc.

In this day and age of ecological awareness, the City of New London should be among the leaders, especially regarding this issue of recycling. It is important.

My parents would tell me how during World War II there was a great effort to recycle and save whatever could be saved, so ecological awareness is not something new. Every scrap of paper and even aluminum foil would be saved. Of course, in those days, rationing of food and gas was in effect. Hopefully, we shall never see those days again. But the point is, recycling and concern for our national natural resources is not something new, so there is precedent within our collective national memory.
