Miko followed mantra

I am grateful for shining the spotlight on Dr. David Miko in the recent article, "Educator to retire after nearly four decades in East Lyme" (May 30). The mantra of Lillie B. Haynes School where he has served as principal for 15 years, is Kindness, Respect and Responsibility. There is no doubt as to how deeply ingrained this ethos is in the leadership style of this dedicated educator, administrator and coach. He has certainly achieved his goal of making a difference in the lives of thousands of young people. I know I speak for many families in commending him for all he has done for the East Lyme community and beyond.
