After reading David Collins' column, “Best summer deal: Thames River Water Taxi season pass,” (July 10), I am anxious to purchase a season pass and look forward to when the service runs every day next year. I am also excited about the service to extend upriver.

Back 71 years ago (1945) I was a member of the crew of the Submarine Tender USS Apollo (AS 25). The Apollo was at the U.S. Naval Submarine Base. I used the liberty launch during the months of October, November, and December. In December of 1945 I was transferred to the USS Orion (AS 18). (Prayerfully) next year I'll be traveling upriver for that "nostalgic ride" that will make this old Navy sailor feel at home! 

I wonder if it is at all possible that the "taxi" is the same liberty launch from the Apollo?
