    Demagogue nominated at Republican convention

What a scam. The Grand Old Republican Party convention proved to be a silly one-ring circus. And the principal performer, in absentia, was Hillary Clinton. Given the time they spent reviling her and hurling lies and innuendoes at her, the Republicans have told us that Hillary is the most powerful person in America.

Only if you have nothing America wants to buy do you need to spend most of your time demolishing your competition. Beyond that, the convention was an effort to dress a gold-plated demagogue in a good, plain Republican cloth coat. Too bad it doesn’t fit. Policies? Be really, really tough. An agenda? Fight them. Be very, very afraid, he says.

But don’t worry, I’m the smartest guy, and I have great common sense, so I’ll know how to make America so great (and Congress, just be quiet). Right. And you probably have a beautiful bridge and a fabulous failed casino to sell me too. Who’s buying this incredible fantasy?
